University of Georgia's women's basketball head coach Joni Taylor was recently named as one of the coaches for the 2022 U.S. women's national basketball team training camp.
The other coaches who made the cut were Adia Barnes from the University of Arizona, Kara Lawson from Duke University and Jeff Walz from the University of Louisville, the Bulldogs reported in a release. The appointed coaches will not participate in the minicamp if their respective teams make it to the NCAA Final Four.
"I am thrilled and honored to serve as a court coach for the USA Basketball National Team training camp," Taylor said in the release. "Whether it was helping the U19 team win gold last year as an assistant or serving as a court coach in 2018, some of my greatest professional memories have come during my time with USA Basketball."
Taylor previously served as a court coach for the 2018 U.S. women's under-18 team and led the 2021 under-19 team to win gold while working as the Bulldogs' assistant coach, the team reported.
In seven seasons with the Bulldogs, Taylor earned a 139-74 win record, the Bulldogs reported.
Taylor was named the 2021 SEC Coach of the Year and led the Bulldogs to a 20-9 finish this season and a No. 6 seed in the NCAA Tournament, the Bulldogs reported.
