Online transparency portal showcases City's progress on Strategic Plan

Oltrans

City of Miltonrecently issued the following announcement.

The City has created a new, in-depth, online showcase of Milton government’s progress in achieving goals, objectives and programs outlined in official approved plans.

The tool delves into components of Milton’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, which itself encompasses several other guiding documents such as the 2040 Comprehensive Plan, Comprehensive Transportation Plan, Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan, and Community Trail Prioritization Plan.

Built into the City’s ClearGov web portal, this feature can be accessed at www.cityofmiltonga.us/transparency by clicking on the “Dashboards” tab.

It builds off the City’s profound commitment to transparency, namely giving those who live, work and play in Milton a clear, open, detailed sense of what’s happening in municipal government.

The Strategic Plan accountability showcase groups everything under these three priorities:

  • Sustainability and Resiliency
  • Smart Land Planning
  • Public Land and Resources
Aspects of various City plans – including more than 200 work programs, projects and other measures – are divided among those priorities. Each item contains basic descriptions and simple charts showing the City’s progress related to goals, objectives, and action plans. Some of these have already been accomplished, others are underway, and there are also a sizable number not likely to be tackled until a few years from now.

While this particular tool was created by City staff, everything in it reflects views, policies, and projects approved over the years – following extensive input from citizens and much deliberation – by Milton’s Mayor and City Council. It is intended to be an easy-to-understand, one-stop virtual location where people can quickly ascertain the City’s movement on an array of matters. What’s viewable now is Phase 1 of this “living” online dashboard, with more details and likely different formatting rolling out in subsequent months.

“Our citizens, as well as our Council, deserve a clear, concise accounting of how their City government is serving them and realizing the visions that have been laid out,” said City Manager Steven Krokoff. “We believe that this feature is a valuable, effective way to share that important information.
