4 demolition requests, 5 reviews on Design Review Board agenda

Demoll

City of Milton recently issued the following announcement.

Milton’s Design Review Board meets Tuesday night to tackle an extensive agenda including four demolition requests and five reviews.

The April 12 meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers at 2006 Heritage Walk. People can attend in person or watch the meeting live online at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uZYnJgin8zk.

This committee -- also known as the DRB (https://www.cityofmiltonga.us/government/boards-committees/design-review-board-drb/) makes recommendations to the City’s Community Development Director and for consideration by other City committees. Its members review new construction proposals, new site development plans, and certain significant alterations to existing structures in Milton. The DRB also examines and votes on demolition proposals.

The latter, in fact, is what the DRB will consider first on Tuesday. Specifically, they’ll discuss on vote on the following demolition requests:

  • For a home and other structures (including a barn, fences, and utility-related items) at 12580 CRABAPPLE ROAD, which just west of Lecoma Trace and northeast of Green Road, for a project being called Echo at Crabapple.
  • For Inner Quest Church to remove an old barn (so that a pavilion can be built in its place) on a nearly 5-acre property at 12830 NEW PROVIDENCE ROAD, which is about .3 miles north of State Route 140/Arnold Mill Road.
  • For an existing building, a portable building, part of a concrete driveway, and well building behind the main residence on a 3-acre property at 2108 BIRMINGHAM ROAD, home of The David Academy between Henderson Road and Manor Trace.
  • For a house, wooden building, concrete pad and driveway on a 3-acre property at 2315 DINSMORE ROAD, where that road intersects with Thompson Road
The board will then conduct courtesy reviews related to these items:

  • A variance request to reduce the side-yard setback from 10 to 8 feet to accommodate a garage built in 2015 at 4060 FELTON CIRCLE in the Crabapple area
  • A request to encroach into the 75-foot impervious setback at 13424 HIPWORTH ROAD (off Freemanville Road) in order to accommodate a new pool and accompanying deck
  • For a use permit for an Indoor Auditorium on the top floor of 12360 CRABAPPLE ROAD, Suite 340, in Crabapple Market. The City Council approved a temporary use permit earlier this year while the applicant seeks a more final use permit for the same purpose.
Last up are two “final reviews” of previously discussed projects, namely:

  • A proposed 2-story, 8,147-square-foot building with tenant space and a Deerfield Dentistry office at 4855 WINDWARD PARKWAY, which is where Windward hits Cogburn Road.
  • The building of a new pavilion sanctuary for Inner Quest Church at 12830 NEW PROVIDENCE ROAD, the same property mentioned above under demolition requests.
After Tuesday’s meeting, the Design Review Board is next slated to convene on May 3.
