Georgians in the 6th Congressional district need a representative who will fight for them to bring down inflation, candidate Blake Harbin said in a statement.

“Georgians are tired of policies that create hardships," Harbin said. "They are tired  of paying for our government’s mistakes. I am asking Georgians to hire me as their next representative. We can heal and have hope that our future will be better. We will fight harder. This is what all Georgians deserve.”

Georgia's primary election is Tuesday.

“I am a successful small business owner that has created hundreds of jobs throughout my career," Harbin said. "We need a business leader with practical experience to tackle the problems in Washington. Who better to balance a budget and slash wasteful spending then someone who has the experience to do it, someone who has done it.”

Recent poll numbers show Harbin continuing to gain ground among voters, with 21% indicating their support for Harbin, according to a press release. Twenty-seven percent favor candidate Rich McCormick, and about 20% remain undecided. Jake Evans is in third place, with around 18% of voters' support.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics issued its latest Consumer Price Index (CPI) summary on May 11, showing that in April prices increased by 8.3% over the last 12 month period. Costs rose by 0.3% in April this year alone after increasing by 1.2% in March. Food prices rose by 0.9% in April. Food costs have increased by 9.4% in the last 12 months, representing the largest rise in prices since 1982. Also in the last 12 months, the price of new vehicles rose by 13.2%, while the price of used vehicles rose by 22.7%.

A May 6-10 survey of 3,600 likely Republican primary voters in Georgia's 6th congressional district conducted by E-GSC LLC found that stopping inflation is the top issue on voters' minds (18%), while protecting parental rights is a close second (17%). Fifteen percent of respondents indicated that creating jobs is their top issue, while 13% selected "preserving our Second Amendment."

Blake Harbin will face multiple GOP challengers in the primary, including Byron Gatewood, McCormick and Mallory Staples, according to Ballotpedia. The general election will take place on Nov. 8.
