The U.S. Senate race in Georgia is heating up, and Republican nominee Herschel Walker will try to shift the focus of his campaign to highlight the shortcomings of Sen. Raphael Warnock and other Democratic leaders.
Current hot-button issues Walker intends to focus on include inflation, gas prices, and abortion laws, FOX 5 Atlanta recently reported.
"We need to be talking about what people are concerned about, that my opponent seems to be voting with Joe Biden rather than the people of Georgia," Walker said in the FOX 5 report. "That’s what we need to be putting headlines about what Herschel Walker is saying ... because the people of Georgia are hurting."
GOP candidates across the country are criticizing unpopular Democratic policies to boost their campaigns, but Walker may also be deflecting attention from some of the controversial scandals surrounding his campaign. Walker has previously made threats of violence against his first wife and exaggerated his academic and business records. He was also recently recorded on video explaining the climate crisis as China sending its "bad air" to the U.S. while stealing "our good air."
Warnock and other Democratic platforms have used allegations in ad campaigns to say that Walker is unqualified and can't be trusted to serve in the U.S. Senate.
Walker, 60, earned the Republican nomination in May largely based on his celebrity status as a former star football running back for the University of Georgia and in the NFL, along with his friendship with former President Donald Trump.
