An upcoming election deadline is approaching quickly in Georgia. The deadline to request an absentee-ballot takes place in two weeks on April 7.

Absentee-ballot request deadlines are designed for those who cannot be in their home jurisdiction on election day and wish to vote by mail. These deadlines are often closer to the election date compared to regular mail-in ballot requests, but still provide a cushion for mail and processing times.

The Georgia State Election Board oversees elections and protects the right to vote in the state. It promulgates rules, investigates fraud, makes recommendations to the legislature, develops voting rules, and educates the public.
