Intersection dedication honors Carolyn Long Banks in Atlanta

State Representative Mesha Mainor of Atlanta is set to host a memorial intersection dedication for Carolyn Long Banks, who was the first Black woman elected to the Atlanta City Council. The event will take place on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at 1 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta.

Carolyn Long Banks made history with her election to the Atlanta City Council and served as chairwoman of the Public Safety Committee. She was also recognized with the Joseph R. Biden Presidential Award for Public Service.

The dedication will be followed by a sign unveiling at the intersection of 14th Street and Northside Drive in Atlanta.
