House Speaker Jon Burns held a press conference at the Georgia State Capitol to discuss his priorities for the 2025 legislative session. Speaker Burns expressed pride in the efforts of House members, stating, “I am incredibly proud of the work the members of the House are doing to make a meaningful difference in this state.”

Burns emphasized that the chamber aims to be effective and impactful by focusing on strategic investments benefiting all Georgians. He stated, "Our goal is to continue prioritizing those policies which will create greater opportunities and a better quality of life for every citizen of our great state."

Key priorities outlined by Speaker Burns include revisiting tax cuts and advancing child literacy initiatives with cooperation from both the Senate and governor’s office. Additionally, he stressed protecting gender-specific sports participation.

Investments in medical workforce residency programs, particularly in rural areas, were also highlighted. Burns reaffirmed protections for IVF and addressed prison safety concerns by advocating for improved security and conditions.

Further plans involve using school zone camera revenue for enhancing school safety and developing a statewide energy management plan.
