On January 15, 2025, Senator RaShaun Kemp was officially sworn in to serve the 38th Senate District of Georgia for the 2025-2026 biennium. Representing a portion of Fulton County, Sen. Kemp is embarking on his first term as a Georgia State Senator.
Senator Kemp expressed gratitude towards his constituents, stating, “I’m grateful to the people of the 38th Senate District for placing their trust in me to fight for their needs under the Gold Dome.” He acknowledged the significance of being "the first openly gay man to serve in the Georgia Senate," considering it "a historic milestone" and emphasized his commitment to bringing "new perspectives to this body."
Senator Kemp also highlighted collaborative efforts with colleagues aimed at addressing statewide challenges: “Together, my colleagues and I will tackle the challenges facing all Georgians and work to make Georgia a place where, regardless of their background, everyone can thrive.”
In addition to his legislative duties, Sen. Kemp will participate in several Senate Committees including Education and Youth, Agriculture and Consumer Affairs, Government Oversight, State Institutions and Property, and Urban Affairs.
