Senator Bill Cowsert has been reappointed as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries and Utilities by Lt. Governor Burt Jones and the Senate Committee on Assignments. This marks his continued leadership in this role since his initial appointment in 2019.

Sen. Cowsert expressed satisfaction with his reappointment, stating, "I am pleased to have been re-appointed Chair of the Senate Committee on Regulated Industries and Utilities by the Committee on Assignments, chaired by Lt. Governor Burt Jones." He emphasized the significance of the committee's work, saying it would "positively impact Georgians for generations to come."

Lt. Governor Burt Jones praised Chairman Cowsert's contributions, noting, "Chairman Cowsert is a strong Chairman who has been in the Senate for over a decade." He added that Sen. Cowsert is an expert on relevant issues and expressed confidence in the committee's future efficiency and effectiveness.

The committee oversees legislation related to professional licensing and regulation of utilities such as gas, electricity, broadband, and telecommunications. It also regulates industries like alcoholic beverages, hemp/medical marijuana, and gaming. Additionally, Sen. Cowsert will serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Secretary of the Senate Committees on Rules and Redistricting. He is also a member of the Senate Committees on Finance, Insurance, and Health and Human Services.

Senator Bill Cowsert represents Georgia's 46th Senate District, which includes parts of Barrow, Clarke, Gwinnett, Oconee, and Walton Counties.
