NFIB State Director Hunter Loggins led a roundtable discussion with Governor Brian Kemp at Samson Trailways, an NFIB member business in Atlanta. The event marked the beginning of a series of discussions on civil litigation policy and its impact on job creators and residents of Georgia.
Governor Kemp shared his thoughts on the issue via social media, stating, "This morning we kicked off a series of roundtables discussing civil litigation policy and its impact on job creators and hardworking Georgians. As we work together to address this issue, we’ll keep those workers and families at the forefront of our minds."
The focus was on how Georgia's civil litigation environment influences insurance rates for small businesses. Key participants included Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, House Speaker John Burns, Insurance Commissioner John King, legislators, and small business owners.
Loggins emphasized NFIB's priorities by saying, "Stopping lawsuit abuse and keeping insurance rates in check will be two of NFIB’s top priorities in next year’s session of the General Assembly."
John Sambdman, CEO of Samson Trailways, expressed his appreciation for hosting the event: "We sincerely appreciate Governor Kemp, Lieutenant Governor Jones, Speaker Burns, Commissioner King, and all the other leaders for coming here today to engage with small business owners about the financial toll that lawsuit abuse is taking on Georgia’s economy." He added that frivolous lawsuits contribute to higher insurance rates that small businesses struggle to afford amid rising inflation.
The roundtable was broadcast live on Governor Kemp's Facebook page.
