Contractors for the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) are set to continue work on the I-16/I-75 Interchange Improvement Project in Macon-Bibb County. Construction is scheduled from April 18 to April 25, 2025, weather permitting.

Traffic pacing will be conducted nightly from April 21 to April 25, with law enforcement vehicles slowing traffic on I-16 eastbound and westbound around the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Coliseum Drive exits.

Long-term closures remain in effect, including Spring Street's far right lane at the I-16 westbound on-ramp, which has been relocated to the far left lane.

The project encompasses several construction activities. Phases 4 and 5 involve ongoing bridge construction over Walnut Creek and other locations, some of which include pouring bridge deck spans and installing drainage structures. Phases 2 and 3 see continued lighting and sound wall construction on I-75, while Phase 1 evaluates remaining work at the interchange split.

The $500 million project aims to improve safety and mobility, featuring additional lanes, new ramps, upgrades to bridges, and more. The phased construction is scheduled for completion by 2030.
