The Georgia Republican Party is circling its wagons in the face of high-profile GOP defectors from the campaign to suss out fraud in Nov. 3 election.
“This is a contested election. As that is the case, there can be no "president-elect" until CONGRESS counts the electoral votes and certifies the results. 2016 was somewhat different; Hillary Clinton called to concede on Election Night, meaning President @realDonaldTrump WON!” the Georgia GOP said in a tweet.
Notably, U.S. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.) is challenging the Electoral College certification of the vote on Jan. 6.
Senate President Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) congratulated Joe Biden on winning the election earlier this week when electors cast their votes.
Others are still withholding their acknowledgement of a Biden presidency.
U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo) said the certification will ultimately decide his mind and that of others.
