Georgia Attorney General Chris Carr has expressed his support for Pam Bondi and a group of conservative attorneys general in their backing of the president and the Department of Government Efficiency's (DOGE) efforts to reduce "waste, fraud, and abuse," emphasizing the importance of "taxpayer accountability." Carr made this statement in a February 14 post on X.
"Proud to stand with @AGPamBondi & conservative AGs in defending @POTUS & @DOGE efforts to cut waste, fraud & abuse in Washington," said General Chris Carr. "Taxpayers deserve accountability & we'll keep fighting to ensure their hard-earned dollars are protected."
According to a press release by Carr, he joined a coalition of 20 attorneys general in defending the Trump administration against lawsuits that challenge its initiatives to eliminate federal waste, fraud, and abuse. The DOGE was established under President Trump with the mission to identify and address federal fraud, which is estimated to result in losses ranging from $233 billion to $521 billion annually. These lawsuits aim to obstruct access to data necessary for addressing these issues.

Carr said that Article II of the Constitution grants the president authority over executive branch agencies and urged the court to permit the administration to continue its work. The brief was filed by Carr along with attorneys general from 19 other states, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, and Texas, as noted in his press release.
"In 2024, Georgia sent a clear message by electing President Trump and his efforts to deliver on the America First agenda," said Carr. "Taxpayers deserve transparency and accountability, and we stand ready to defend the administration’s work to cut waste and ensure their hard-earned dollars are spent responsibly."
Chris Carr was appointed as Georgia's attorney general by then-Governor Nathan Deal in 2016 and was re-elected in November 2022. Since assuming office, he has concentrated on issues such as human trafficking, gang activity, and opioid misuse. This includes establishing Georgia's first Human Trafficking Prosecution Unit and Gang Prosecution Unit.
