ATHENS AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE: Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty and Synovus Bank Cooked and Served 800 Meals for Staff at St. Mary's Health Care System

Athens Area Chamber of Commerce issued the following announcement on June 15.

Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty and Synovus Bank joined forces on April 30, 2021, to show their support for the Doctors, Nurses, and Staff at St. Mary’s Health Care System.

On Thursday afternoon the grills were fired up and 550 pounds of barbeque pork began to slow cook overnight. On Friday, April 30th, Real Estate Agents and Bankers served 800 meals, while the team adhered to environmentally safe precautions. The meal consisted of chopped pork BBQ, homemade baked beans, coleslaw, chips, and lemonade or tea.

“As the Broker of Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty, I was overwhelmed by the response I received from my agents” said Charlie Upchurch, President and Broker of Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty. “They showed great appreciation and wanted to repay the caregivers at St. Mary’s for everything they have done for our community this past year.”

Upchurch immediately contacted his dear friend, John Tebeau, Market Executive of Synovus Bank Athens, and was thrilled to hear Tebeau shared the same vision. “We have been brainstorming what we could do to show our appreciation as well,” said Tebeau. “This is a small thank you to all the caregivers, workers, and angels at St. Mary’s Health Care System.”

On behalf of all Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty and Synovus Bank, we are so thankful for all the health care providers and those working on the front line to keep our community strong. We would also like to thank Striplings General Store for donating the pork, Lindsey's Culinary Market for donating the chips and drinks, and Synovus Bank for co-sponsoring the event. This meal would not have been able to happen without the support of all the local businesses.
