A South Korea-based industrial plant construction company has opened corporate U.S. headquarters in Suwanee, in Gwinnett County.

SUNGDO ENG USA’s move to an 11,735-square-foot office and warehouse at 4318 Brogdon Place Cove in Suwanee has created 30 jobs, a company press release said. SUNGDO ENG USA, a subsidiary of Seoul, South Korea-based Sungdo Engineering & Construction, “provides highly technical construction services to many Georgia-based clients,” the release said.

“Georgia is proud to welcome companies like SUNGDO ENG USA and the jobs they create to our state, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp posted on Twitter. "The Peach State is open for business!”

The company's experience includes biotechnology and engineering and developing semiconductors, display projects and solar cells. It supplies design, engineering, procurement, testing, commissioning, operation, maintenance and after-sales service to its customers, the release said.

“Opening the U.S. headquarters for SUNGDO ENG USA in Gwinnett County is further evidence that our community is a powerhouse for innovation,” Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson said in the release. “We are honored they chose Gwinnett for their U.S. home.”

SUNGDO ENG USA chose Georgia mainly because high-tech businesses are investing in the state, Ju Ho Lee, CEO for SUNGDO ENG USA, said in the press release.

“We currently have primary clients and projects for a high-tech facility in Georgia and expect to expand more soon,” Ju Ho Lee said in the release. “In addition, compared with other regions, it was a natural choice to be located in the state of Georgia because of the top-rated business environment, infrastructure, and all of the conditions for business success.”

Global Atlanta reported that several Korean firms with advanced manufacturing plants are located in Georgia, including SK Battery’s electric-vehicle battery facility in Commerce and the Hanwha Q CELLS solar plant in Dalton.

SUNGDO ENG USA is hiring for positions in process engineering, mechanical and electrical, the press release said. Interested individuals can visit www.sungdokorea.com/en and email dglee@sungdokoera.com for more information.
