Milton wins award for 'Budget Book' document for 4th straight year

Mill

City of Milton recently issued the following announcement.

Post Date:04/11/2022 9:32 AM

For the fourth consecutive year, the City of Milton has earned a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its well-documented compilation and publications of government finances for the current fiscal year.

The presentation, known as Milton’s “Budget Book,” can be viewed HERE: https://www.cityofmiltonga.us/home/showpublisheddocument/5488/637755844181030000.

The prestigious recognition comes from the Government Finance Officers Association, which since 1906 has represented U.S. and Canadian officials at the federal, state and local levels who have a hands-on role in planning, financing, and implementing government operations. The GFOA’s mission “is to advance excellence in public finance,” according to its website.

And the City of Milton’s Budget Book did just that, as illustrated by its receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for Fiscal Year 2022 (which runs from Oct. 1, 2021, to Sept. 30, 2022).

“This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting,” GFOA said in a letter to Milton’s Finance Department. “Its attainment represents a significant achievement by your organization.”

With this latest honor, the City has now received such recognition all four times it has created and submitted a "Budget Book" for consideration.
