Georgia Governor Brian Kemp recently announced that Proctor & Gamble, a multinational consumer goods corporation, has confirmed plans to establish a new factory in the state, according to a Fox news report.

The company plans to invest $205 million in a new distribution center in Jackson, which is anticipated to generate hundreds of new jobs.

"It says a lot when household names like Procter & Gamble repeatedly choose Georgia to do business," Kemp said. "My administration has been laser-focused on creating jobs and opportunities in rural Georgia, and I am confident that hardworking Georgians in Butts County, at the Georgia Ports Authority will make sure Procter & Gamble’s products get out the door and to the market."

The Ohio-based company also has a production site in Albany and a distribution hub in the metropolitan Atlanta area.

"We are excited to expand our footprint in Georgia to better meet demand for our products and serve our consumers," said Ignacio Arranz, senior vice president for P&G Physical Distribution Innovation. "We are grateful to the Butts County community for their support and look forward to many years of partnership and growth."

When finished, the new automated factory will occupy over 1 million square feet and house at least 350 employees.

Procter & Gamble manufactures and distributes several brands, including Always menstrual hygiene products, Bounty paper towels, Charmin toilet paper, Crest toothpaste and Gillette razors.
