Former attorney general of Virginia Ken Cuccinelli is calling out Democrat leaders for failing to deal with immigration in a timely manner.
“While the hypocrisy of some on the left becomes evident, such as the example of Mayor Bowser of Washington DC screaming about illegals coming to her city after declaring it a sanctuary city, others on the left are hiding through election day hoping no one takes notice of them and their lack of action to defend the border,” Cuccinelli said. “Among these are senators Kelly and Masto.”
Washington, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser called for National Guard activation last week to assist with people who have entered the country illegally at the southern border and were bussed to the nation's capital from Texas and Arizona, according to The Patriot Project. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey have been busing migrants in an attempt to draw attention to the lax immigrant enforcement policies under the Biden administration.
In the past, Bowser called the nation's capital a “sanctuary city” for immigrants. Bowser wrote in a July 2018 Twitter post, “Washington, DC is a sanctuary city. We protect the rights and humanity of all our residents, and our #DCValues and our local culture are guided by a celebration of diversity and inclusivity.”
Conservative lawmakers have also criticized Sen. Raphael Warnock for being lax on border security, voting against bills regarding immigration at the southern border including one allocating $300 million for Customs and Border Protection to handle anti-narcotic and opioid-related activities.
There have been 1,746,119 encounters at the southwest border for fiscal year 2022 as of June 30, which The Patriot Project points out has already surpassed the entire FY 2021 record number of 1,734,686.
As reported by the Patriot Project, Abbott responded to Bowser’s request for National Guard assistance by saying, “Washington, D.C. finally understands what Texans have been dealing with every single day, as are communities are overrun and overwhelmed by thousands of illegal immigrants thanks to President Biden’s open border policies.” He also added, “The true ongoing humanitarian crisis is along the southern border.”
