Breastfeeding Classes Resume in Person at Piedmont Eastside Medical Center

Piedmont Eastside Medical Center is collaborating with Gwinnett County WIC to bring back their in-person breastfeeding classes. The classes were virtual until July, when the hospital held its first in-person class since the COVID-19 pandemic started.

The class being offered is a breastfeeding support group, and it’s offered as a service to the community -- to all expecting and breastfeeding moms. You do not have to be a patient of the hospital to attend.

“August is also National Breastfeeding Awareness Month and we are happy to be able to bring back these classes that are vital for mom and for baby,” said Cheryl Eagle, Charge Nurse in the Family Care Center at Piedmont Eastside.

In the class, you’ll learn how important breastfeeding is, how to prepare for your baby’s arrival, how to start baby-led feeding, learn how to properly assemble breast pumps, how to maintain milk supply and more. Th group meets every first Wednesday of the month at 11a.m. and every third Wednesday of the month, at 10 a.m.

The group meets at the same location: Piedmont Eastside’s North Tower, Third Floor classroom.
