Moody AFB, Ga. — U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released the following statement on
Moody Air Force Base being selected to host the next F-35A mission.
“This is a major step forward in our ongoing effort to strengthen and sustain Moody Air Force Base for decades to come.
“Moody is a critical national security asset and a vital job creator for South Georgia. The men and women who serve at Moody are among the finest in our Armed Forces.
“I will continue to champion Moody AFB and its future as a home for U.S. Air Force tactical aviation.
“I thank Air Force leadership for their work with my office and the Moody community toward this important decision.”
According to the Air Force, two squadrons of F-35As are projected to begin arriving as soon as FY27 and are anticipated to require an increase in approximately 500 personnel. The Department of the Air Force will now conduct an environmental impact analysis, which is expected to be completed in fall 2025, the Air Force said.
Sen. Ossoff has relentlessly championed Moody AFB. Since being elected, Sen. Ossoff has successfully delivered resources to upgrade facilities for the 23rd Security Forces Squadron, 38th Rescue Squadron, and 41st Rescue Squadron.
