The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has awarded a construction contract to enhance safety and traffic flow at the intersection of State Route 9 and Bannister Road in Forsyth County. The initiative will replace the traffic signal with a modern roundabout configuration to improve regional traffic conditions. The intersection lies roughly seven miles south of Dawsonville and ten miles north of Cumming.
Additionally, the project scope includes reconfiguring the nearby intersection of Bannister Road and Silversmith Drive, aimed at improving efficiency and minimizing conflicts. Bartow Paving Company, Inc. secured the contract with a bid of $3,164,457.57, with an estimated project completion date of May 31, 2027.
GDOT emphasizes that this infrastructure investment is part of its essential efforts to provide safe and efficient transportation solutions in Georgia.
