Atlanta, GA – Governor Brian P. Kemp has made significant announcements today regarding the appointment of judges and solicitors general in various parts of the state of Georgia.

J. Wade Padgett has been appointed to the Court of Appeals, filling the vacancy left by Judge Christian Coomer. Following this appointment, J. Grady Blanchard will be taking over the position in the Columbia Judicial Circuit. Governor Kemp has also appointed Spencer Tyson as the Solicitor General of Effingham County and Amy Godfrey as the Solicitor General of Coweta County.

Judge Padgett, who has served as a Superior Court Judge in both the Augusta Judicial Circuit and the Columbia Judicial Circuit, is described as an active member of the legal community and his local area. He holds a J.D. from Georgia State College of Law and a B.A. in History from the University of Georgia. Judge Padgett and his family are active members of Wesley United Methodist Church.

On the other hand, Judge Blanchard, currently serving as Chief Judge for the Municipal Courts of Waynesboro and Louisville, has a background in solo practice and has been involved with various legal associations. He holds a J.D. from John Marshall Law School and a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Augusta State University. Judge Blanchard and his family attend Abilene Baptist Church.

Spencer Tyson, appointed as the Solicitor General of Effingham County, has a legal background working as an associate attorney and a law clerk in different judicial circuits. He holds a J.D. from the Walter F. George School of Law at Mercer University and his B.A. in Political Science from Mercer University.

Lastly, Amy Godfrey, the newly appointed Solicitor General of Coweta County, has a history of serving in various legal roles before taking on this position. She holds a J.D. from the University of Georgia School of Law and a B.S. from Charleston Southern University. Godfrey and her family attend Crossroads Church.

These appointments mark a significant development in the legal landscape of Georgia, bringing in experienced individuals to serve in key judicial and legal positions across the state.
