Gov. Kemp: StandardAero Expands Footprint at Augusta Regional Airport

Governor Brian Kemp of Georgia announced that StandardAero is set to expand its operations in Augusta, creating 90 new jobs in Richmond County. StandardAero, a prominent provider of aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul services, has been operating in Augusta since 1974 and currently supports over 170 jobs in the area. Chris Bodine, Vice President and General Manager of StandardAero’s Augusta facility, expressed, “The new facility will add over 60 percent of new space to our existing footprint,” allowing for servicing larger aircraft and expanding engine support.

Tony Brancato, President of StandardAero Business Aviation, expressed gratitude towards the Augusta Regional Airport, City of Augusta, and the State of Georgia for their support in constructing the new facility. The expansion will enable StandardAero to work on larger aircraft and meet the increasing maintenance needs of HTF7000 series engine operators.

The expansion will consist of a new hangar and engine shop at 1150 Hangar Road adjacent to the Augusta Regional Airport, adding 80,500 square feet to the company’s footprint in Augusta. Construction is expected to be completed in 2025, with roles in administration, management, and operations to be filled. Augusta Mayor Garnett Johnson highlighted the economic impact and job creation potential of the expansion, emphasizing the partnership with local firms for construction.

Herbert L. Judon Jr., Executive Director of the Augusta Regional Airport, expressed excitement about the expansion, noting its significance for future airport growth and regional economic impact. The partnership between private and public entities was crucial in bringing the project to fruition and supporting local workforce development efforts.

GDEcD Commissioner Pat Wilson commended StandardAero for its global impact and contribution to Georgia's economy, mentioning the $11.1 billion worth of aerospace products exported by the state in 2023. The expansion is expected to create long-term job opportunities for Georgians and contribute to the economic vitality of the region.

StandardAero, owned by global investment firm Carlyle, is known for its diverse services in aircraft maintenance and overhaul across various markets. The company's expansion in Augusta signifies a positive development for the aerospace industry in Georgia, with a focus on job creation and economic growth.
