State Representative Matt Reeves (R-Duluth) is set to host a press conference on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 4 p.m. to address Gwinnett County's property tax referendum. The event will take place at the 1818 Club in Duluth, Georgia.

During the press conference, Rep. Reeves will shed light on House bills 711 and 748, which were passed in 2023 and have placed two crucial ballot questions on the primary ballot scheduled for May 21, 2024, in Gwinnett County. The proposed questions aim to enhance property tax relief for Gwinnett homeowners.

According to the information released ahead of the conference, the proposals entail doubling the Gwinnett homestead exemption for all homeowners in the county. Additionally, the referendum seeks to grant an extra homestead exemption to specific groups, including school, law enforcement, hospital, and military personnel.

It was highlighted during the briefing that the upcoming referendum holds significant importance as the last homeowner property tax relief vote in Gwinnett County occurred back in 1988, marking a gap of 36 years.

The press conference is open to the public, with an option to attend virtually via Zoom by registering in advance. The event details are as follows:
