On Sunday, May 12, Sen. Sonya Halpern (D–Atlanta), Vice Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus, delivered the commencement address at the University of Hartford’s 2024 graduation ceremony. Sen. Halpern, a proud alumna of the university, expressed her gratitude for this opportunity.

“As a proud MBA graduate of the University of Hartford, delivering the commencement address to the 2024 undergraduate class was an immense honor," said Sen. Halpern. "My journey from student to senator has been shaped by the values instilled in me during my time at this esteemed institution. It’s a testament to the transformative power of education and the boundless opportunities it provides. I am deeply grateful for the privilege to address the next generation of leaders, knowing that they carry with them the potential to create positive change in our world.”

The University of Hartford boasts over 85,000 alumni and was recently named a 2023-2024 College of Distinction.

Sen. Sonya Halpern serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Democratic Caucus and represents Georgia's 39th Senate District which includes neighborhoods across Atlanta, College Park, City of South Fulton, East Point and Union City in Fulton County.
