Rep. Seabaugh responds to fatal shooting at Kennesaw State University

State Representative Devan Seabaugh (R-Marietta) issued a statement on May 20, 2024, responding to the fatal shooting of a Kennesaw State University student on campus that occurred on Saturday, May 18, 2024.

"I was deeply saddened to hear of the tragic incident that occurred on the campus of our local university resulting in the loss of one of our students," said Seabaugh. "I extend my condolences to the victims, family, friends and the entire Kennesaw State University community."

Seabaugh also praised KSU president Kathy Schwaig and her staff for their response to the incident. He acknowledged the swift action taken by both the Kennesaw State University police and the Cobb County Police Department.

"Their professionalism and teamwork were instrumental in ensuring the safety of those remaining on campus and in quickly apprehending the suspect," he added.

Seabaugh assured that Georgia is committed to ensuring safety and security on school campuses. "We will continue to be vigilant to do everything we can to prevent such acts of violence in the future," he concluded.
