State Representative Rob Leverett (R-Elberton), chairman of the House Reapportionment and Redistricting Committee, was recently selected by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock.

“I am honored to have been chosen to serve in this capacity and alongside such a distinguished panel of fellow legislators,” said Chairman Leverett. “We are indebted to the farmers and producers of our great state, and they deserve greater support in limiting any financial or unlawful threats to their business. I am eager to study and make recommendations concerning an issue that is so vital and important to our state’s number one industry.”

Created by House Resolution 1166, the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Bond Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock will examine warehouse and bonding policies associated with Georgia’s agriculture industry.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Steven Meeks (R-Screven), Robert Dickey (R-Musella), Chas Cannon (R-Moultrie), Patty Stinson (D-Butler), Joe Campbell (R-Camilla) and Beth Camp (R-Concord).
