State Representative Beth Camp (R-Concord), chair of the Intragovernmental Coordination Committee, was recently selected by Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve on the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock.

“With margins being so razor thin for producers and input costs continuing to rise, hearing from producers and stakeholders in a formal format is an important step to address this challenge to keep agriculture the number one business in Georgia,” said Chair Camp. “My family has a cow/calf cattle operation on our farm, so I know firsthand how timing commodities to market at just the right time is important in order to remain viable year to year. I am honored to work with my fellow legislators to find solutions to this growing issue in our state. My thanks to Speaker Burns for the opportunity to serve on the Exchange, Storage and Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock Study Committee.”

Created by House Resolution 1166, the House Study Committee on the Exchange, Storage and Bond Coverage of Agricultural Products, Grain and Livestock will examine warehouse and bonding policies associated with Georgia’s agriculture industry.

Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Steven Meeks (R-Screven), Joe Campbell (R-Camilla), Robert Dickey (R-Musella), Chas Cannon (R-Moultrie), Patty Stinson (D-Butler) and Rob Leverett (R-Elberton).
