The Senate Committee on Urban Affairs, led by Sen. Donzella James, is scheduled to convene for its third interim meeting on October 31 at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta. The session will begin at 11:00 a.m. and is open to the public, with live streaming available through the Senate website.

The agenda includes discussions from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. focusing on issues related to property owners, condominium owners, and homeowners' associations (HOAs). Following this segment, there will be a press conference from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., addressing the recent Sapelo Island gangway collapse that occurred on October 19.

After the press conference, committee members will reconvene to further examine the incident at Sapelo Island. The focus will be on reviewing safety procedures implemented by state and county authorities and developing strategies to prevent similar occurrences in the future.

Media representatives planning to attend are asked to confirm their presence in advance by contacting Jantz Womack via email at SenatePressInquiries@senate.ga.gov.

Sen. Donzella James serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Urban Affairs and represents Georgia's 35th Senate District, which includes parts of Douglas and Fulton counties. She can be contacted by phone or email for further inquiries.
