The Georgia Department of Agriculture's Law Enforcement Division has seized 136 neglected dogs from a kennel in Pierce County, Georgia. The animals were relocated to a secondary site where they received veterinary care. The department is collaborating with rescue organizations to find foster homes for the dogs as soon as possible.

Agriculture Commissioner Tyler J Harper expressed his satisfaction with the operation, stating, "I am incredibly proud of the work our Law Enforcement team did to remove these dogs and address this situation." He emphasized that crimes within Georgia’s agricultural sector, including animal abuse, will not be tolerated. Harper also highlighted the ongoing efforts of their Companion Animal & Equine team to ensure proper care for companion animals and equines in the state.

The investigation began after the Georgia Department of Agriculture received a tip about alleged animal abuse at a local kennel. Accompanied by GDA Companion Animal & Equine Inspectors, law enforcement conducted an inspection which revealed violations of departmental rules and state laws. This provided probable cause for obtaining and executing a search warrant on the property.

During the search, evidence including live animals was collected by the department. Post-seizure, veterinary services were administered to the animals at a secondary location. The department is working with several local rescue groups such as Renegade Paws Rescue, K9 Battle Buddies, Allmon’s All About Animals, Liberty County Animal Services, Atlanta Humane Society, and Humane Society of Greater Savannah to rehome or foster these animals. Information on fostering or adopting can be found on these organizations' websites and social media platforms.
