Senator Jason Esteves has introduced a series of bills in Georgia aimed at reducing costs for seniors and ensuring they have the necessary resources to age with dignity. The proposed legislation includes three bills designed to provide financial relief and improve senior care.

Senate Bill 187 proposes an increase in Georgia's tax credit for caregivers from $150 to $500. Senate Bill 186 would allow Medicaid funds to be used for personal care homes and assisted living communities. Senate Bill 188 aims to establish a Georgia Adult and Aging Services Agency.

"As a caregiver for my mother, one of the 180,000 Georgians living with Alzheimer’s, this issue is close to my heart," said Sen. Esteves. "We must do everything we can to ensure all Georgians have the resources they need to age with dignity." He added, "I am excited to continue my work to bring down the cost of senior care, provide financial relief for our caregivers and improve Georgia’s senior care system."

The legislation addresses the growing concerns of Georgia's aging population. By 2030, it is estimated that more than 20% of Georgia's population will be aged 60 or older.
