State Route 20 and Preston Creek Drive in Henry County will experience a traffic shift on Tuesday, February 25th due to a road-widening project. The shift is scheduled overnight from 9 pm to 5 am to accommodate the Stage 1 construction phase.
During this period, Preston Creek Drive will be closed to all traffic from State Route 20. Detours will be available via northbound Willow Lane and Shoppes Lane between 9 pm and 5 am.
Motorists are advised to seek alternate routes and anticipate delays. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has issued an advisory for drivers to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce speed while traveling through work zones. Real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions can be accessed by calling 511, visiting 511ga.org, or using the Georgia 511 app.
The GDOT plans, constructs, and maintains state and federal highways in Georgia. The department also engages in bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike, and pedestrian programs while assisting local governments with road maintenance. With nearly 4,000 employees, the GDOT is committed to providing a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability, and mobility. "The Department’s vision is to boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation."
