The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced lane closures around Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road due to ongoing construction activities. The work is scheduled from February 21 through March 2, 2025, and is contingent on weather conditions.
Daytime closures will occur on Saturday, February 22, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., affecting the right lane on I-85 northbound Frontage Road from SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to Cliff Valley Way and the left lane on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound from I-85 to Briarcliff Road until 11 a.m.
A continuous closure will take place from Monday, February 24, at 6 a.m. to Monday, March 3, at 6 a.m., impacting the left lane on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound from I-85 northbound to Tullie Road.
Overnight closures are also planned for Friday, February 21 through Sunday, February 23, between the hours of 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. These include various lanes on both I-85 and SR 42/North Druid Hills Road in multiple directions.
From Monday, February 24 through Friday, February 28, overnight closures will continue with similar restrictions as earlier in the week.
Motorists are advised of detours during these periods. Those traveling on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road eastbound or westbound towards I-85 southbound should use designated routes via Clairmont Road and other specified roads for access.
"Motorists are advised to expect delays," GDOT warns. "Exercise caution and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones."
