The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has announced a series of road works and traffic interruptions across Southeast Georgia from February 22 to February 28, 2025. The department advises motorists to reduce speed and exercise caution in work zones.

On Interstate 95, several projects are underway. In Camden County, the St. Marys River Bridge will have overnight lane closures due to repairs. Chatham County will see nightly single lane closures for concrete footer pouring for signs at mileposts 90-91 until April 29, 2025. Maintenance work between Laurel Island Parkway and Hariett Bluff Road will cause nightly lane closures through March 2025. Additionally, concrete work for sign improvements is ongoing in Bryan and Chatham Counties with nightly left lane closures until April 30, 2025.

Interstate 16 also faces disruptions with nightly single left lane closures under the Chatham Parkway Bridge due to structural repairs until March 1, 2025. In Bulloch County, repair work on concrete pavement and striping will result in nightly lane closures.

Several bridge and road closures are scheduled with detours in place. Antioch Church Road in Clinch County is closed for bridge replacement until August 2025. Birdford Lake Road in Tattnall County is undergoing storm damage repairs with a detour active until April 1, 2025.

Resurfacing activities are planned for SR 38/US 84 and Old Sunbury Road in Liberty County with daily or nightly lane closures for median installation from Sunday to Friday. Other roads affected include SR 119/Taylors Creek and SR 169 with temporary traffic stoppages expected.

Additional traffic interruptions include nightly lane closures on SR 21/SR 30 in Chatham County for striping work from Monday to Friday, as well as daily lane closures on DeRenne Avenue for new concrete medium installation.

Motorists should anticipate delays and check real-time updates by calling GDOT's helpline or visiting their website.

"Georgia Department of Transportation plans, constructs and maintains Georgia’s state and federal highways," said a spokesperson from GDOT. "We’re involved in bridge, waterway, public transit, rail, general aviation, bike and pedestrian programs."

For further details on these projects or others throughout the state, visit GDOT's official channels.
