Crews will begin reconstruction work on the intersection of Old Alabama Road and Paga Mine Road in Bartow County starting Tuesday, March 4. This construction is part of a broader project to widen Old Alabama Road. The closure of Paga Mine Road at this intersection is expected to last approximately two months.

Motorists traveling east on Old Alabama Road aiming to reach Paga Mine Road will need to follow a detour via Red Top Mountain Road and the State Route 293 Connector. Drivers should then turn left onto Main Street to return to Paga Mine Road.

The public is advised that delays are likely and drivers should exercise caution and reduce speed when traveling through work zones. For real-time updates on traffic conditions and construction progress, individuals can call 511, visit 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 app.

Maintenance teams continue their essential roadwork while adhering to health guidelines to protect themselves and the public from COVID-19, similar to other state DOTs across the U.S.
