Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) contractors are set to begin nightly detours as part of the US 280 Widening Project. Weather permitting, these detours will commence at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 4, 2025. The construction work involves installing drainage at the Dillion Drive roundabout on US 280/State Route (SR) 30.
Drivers leaving Genesis Drive who plan to travel south on US 280/SR 30 will need to use a detour that leads to the I-16 westbound roundabout. This project is a segment of broader improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing access to new developments in Bryan County. These initiatives include roadway widening, roundabout construction, and building a new frontage road along I-16 and an interchange.
The scheduled nighttime closures are set from Tuesday, March 4, through Friday, March 7, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., affecting traffic at the Dillion Drive roundabout on US 280/SR 30.
Motorists should expect delays and are advised to exercise caution and reduce speed when traveling through work zones. For real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions, drivers can call 511 or visit the website at 511ga.org or download the Georgia 511 app.
Further information about the project can be found online.
