The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced a series of lane closures as part of the ongoing I-285/I-20 East Interchange project. Weather permitting, these closures will take place from Monday, March 3, through Saturday, March 8, 2025.
The project aims to reconstruct the interstate system-to-system ramps at the I-285/I-20 East Interchange and add collector-distributor lanes and auxiliary lanes along I-20 east of the interchange and I-285 north of the interchange.
Daytime closures are scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., affecting I-20 Eastbound with single right or left-lane and shoulder closures between Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road, and connecting lanes from the I-285 Interchange to Wesley Chapel Road. Additionally, flagging operations will occur on Miller Road between Panola Industrial Boulevard and Chatooga Drive from March 3 through March 7, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Overnight closures will take place from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m., involving single to double right or left-lane and shoulder closures on I-20 Eastbound between Wesley Chapel Road and Panola Road, Columbia Drive to Wesley Chapel Road, and connecting lanes from the I-285 Interchange to Wesley Chapel Road. Snapfinger Road under the I-285 overpass will have flagging operations during this time.
Further overnight activities include lane closures on I-285 Southbound from Glenwood to the interchange and Northbound from Columbia to the interchange between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. On I-20 Westbound, alternating single left and right-lane closures will occur from Panola Road to Wesley Chapel Road.
Traffic pacing operations are planned for various sections including I-20 Westbound from Wesley Chapel Road to Columbia Drive, both directions of I-20 between the I-285 Interchange and Panola Road including entrance ramps.
The Miller Road Bridge over I-20 remains closed until approximately September 2025 with detours in place.
