State Route 20 in Henry County is set to undergo a traffic shift due to a road widening project. The change, initially scheduled for February, has been rescheduled to Monday, March 3. The traffic shift will occur overnight from 9 pm to 5 am as part of the planned Stage 1 construction phase.

Preston Creek Drive will be closed during these hours and all traffic will be redirected. Detours will guide motorists via northbound Willow Lane and Shoppes Lane. Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes and anticipate delays.

The Georgia Department of Transportation advises motorists to "expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones." For real-time updates on work status and traffic conditions, drivers can call 511, visit the website at 511ga.org, or download the Georgia 511 app.

The Georgia Department of Transportation is responsible for planning, constructing, and maintaining state and federal highways in Georgia. It also supports bridge projects, waterways, public transit systems, rail services, general aviation facilities, as well as bike and pedestrian programs. The department works with local governments to maintain roads throughout the state. "Georgia DOT and its nearly 4,000 employees are committed to delivering a transportation system focused on innovation, safety, sustainability and mobility," according to the department's statement. The department aims to enhance Georgia's competitiveness through leadership in transportation.
