Yesterday, House Bill 428, introduced by State Representative Lehman Franklin of Statesboro and prioritized by House Speaker Jon Burns of Newington, received unanimous approval in the House. The bill aims to secure access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) for families facing infertility challenges. Rep. Franklin expressed his appreciation for the House's support and is eager to see the bill progress in the Senate.

"I am incredibly proud to see House Bill 428 pass the House with unanimous support," stated Rep. Franklin. He added that as he and his wife prepare to welcome their first daughter, he is "deeply grateful for IVF and the profound impact it has had on our family." Franklin emphasized the importance of codifying protections for families dealing with infertility, ensuring equal opportunities for family growth. He also extended his gratitude to Speaker Burns for his leadership in advancing this legislation.

The proposed HB 428 seeks to enshrine protections for IVF, guaranteeing that Georgians experiencing infertility have continuous access to this treatment option.

The bill will next be considered by the Georgia State Senate.
