House Speaker Jon Burns commended the House Subcommittee of Rules on Lawsuit Reform for advancing Senate Bill 68, a comprehensive tort reform measure backed by Governor Brian Kemp. The bill now awaits a vote in the full House.

Speaker Burns expressed appreciation for the efforts of State Representative Butch Parrish, Chairman of the House Rules Committee, and State Representative Rob Leverett, Chairman of the House Subcommittee on Lawsuit Reform. He noted their collaboration with Governor Kemp and Senate colleagues to develop meaningful tort reform.

“The members of the Subcommittee of Rules on Lawsuit Reform have worked diligently with Governor Kemp and our colleagues in the Senate to champion meaningful, substantive tort reform that returns balance and stability to our courtrooms and insurance markets,” stated Speaker Burns. “Each provision included in Senate Bill 68 has been meticulously crafted to ensure fairness for Georgia’s businesses and citizens alike, and we’re looking forward to its passage out of the House later this week.”
