Georgia Power plans to conduct power line repairs over Interstate 575 in Cherokee County, weather permitting. The work involves moving a power line across the interstate to fix a damaged power pole. Traffic on I-575 between mileposts 2 and 17 will be paced in both directions to facilitate this operation. Motorists should anticipate delays during the process, which is scheduled to begin at daylight and last approximately four hours.

On Sunday, March 23, from early morning until around noon, the southbound exit 9 (Ridgewalk Parkway) offramp will be closed. A detour will direct traffic from exit 11 to Ridgewalk Parkway via Sixes Road and Main Street. All other ramps will remain open.

Motorists are advised to expect delays and exercise caution while traveling through the work zones. Reduced speed is recommended for safety reasons. For real-time updates on traffic conditions and work status, individuals can call 511, visit the website 511ga.org, or use the Georgia 511 app.

The maintenance team responsible for road and bridge repairs continues its essential work while adhering to health guidelines designed to protect workers and the public from COVID-19.

"Before heading out," officials advise, "get real-time information on work status and traffic conditions."
