The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) has announced upcoming lane closures on the I-285/I-20 West Interchange due to geotechnical boring required for design work. These works, carried out in cooperation with construction partners, are part of a project aimed at reconstructing and widening several ramps and adding additional lanes to the interchange system.
Weather permitting, the closures are scheduled to take place between Monday, April 7, and Friday, April 11, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night. Specific closures will include a single right-lane and shoulder closure westbound from the Linkwood Road overpass to the Fairburn Road overpass, and alternating closures southbound from Collier Drive to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, as well as northbound from Boulder Park Drive to the I-20 Interchange.
The times of these temporary traffic disruptions may vary due to weather, and additional traffic pacing and ramp closures might be implemented. Motorists should expect delays, reduce their speed through the work zones, and remain alert for workers. Georgia DOT advises drivers to check traffic conditions and work status via phone or online resources prior to travel.
Further updates and information about the project can be found on the designated project website.
