Georgia Department of Transportation contractors are set to close lanes around Interstate 85 at State Route 42/North Druid Hills Road for construction, weather permitting. This will result in traffic impacts starting April 4, 2025, and continuing through April 13, 2025.
The schedule includes daytime closures and overnight closures. Specifically, on Saturday, April 5, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., a right lane on the I-85 northbound Frontage Road from SR 42/North Druid Hills Road to Cliff Valley Way will be closed.
Overnight closures will begin on Friday, April 4, at 8 p.m. through Saturday, April 5, at 6 a.m. This will affect one right lane on SR 42/North Druid Hills Road directioning both eastbound and westbound at Children’s Drive, as well as on the I-85 northbound off-ramp to SR 42/North Druid Hills Road westbound, and a right lane on the I-85 northbound Frontage Road.
Additional closures and detours will involve the SR 42/North Druid Hills Road interchange with I-85 southbound, requiring motorists to use alternate routes involving I-85 northbound Frontage Road and Clairmont Road.
Motorists are advised of further lane closures scheduled between April 7 and April 12, which will affect SR 42/North Druid Hills Road from I-85 to Briarcliff Road. These nighttime closures will include single-left lanes and pacing operations at key intersections.
"Motorists are advised to expect delays, exercise caution, and reduce their speed while traveling through work zones," the advisory states. Real-time traffic and construction updates are available by calling 511 or visiting 511ga.org.
