Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) is continuing essential road work projects in Southeast Georgia. Construction and maintenance activities are set from April 5 to April 11, with potential adjustments due to weather conditions. GDOT urges drivers to reduce speeds in work zones, stay vigilant, and watch for workers.
Various projects on Interstate 95 involve repairs, such as the St. Marys River Bridge in Camden County with overnight lane closures in Florida and Georgia. In Chatham County, concrete footer pouring for signs necessitates nightly lane closures between mileposts 90 and 91, continuing until April 29, 2025.
Camden County sees bridge maintenance between Laurel Island Parkway and Harriet Bluff Road, causing nightly lane closures through April 2025. Bryan and Chatham County have ongoing concrete work for sign improvements from milepost 85 to 112, affecting outside lanes.
On Interstate 16, Chatham County experiences bridge jacking and structural repairs requiring nightly single lane closures until April 18, 2025. Additional closures affect sections in Bulloch and Chatham Counties for concrete pavement repairs and preconstruction activities, running daily.
Elsewhere, bridge and road closures with detours are active, including Antioch Church Rd in Clinch County and Birdford Lake Rd in Tattnall County. Road resurfacing projects continue on SR 17 in Screven County and several routes in Liberty County, requiring lane closures.
The advisory notes other traffic interruptions such as utility work on US 80/SR 26 in Chatham County and roundabout construction on US 17/SR 25 at SR 99 in Glynn County.
GDOT reminds drivers that more traffic information is available via the Georgia 511 phone service or its website. The department maintains Georgia's highways and supports local road maintenance, committed to enhancing transportation safety and innovation.
Georgia DOT emphasizes their focus on "safety, sustainability, and mobility," aiming to "boost Georgia’s competitiveness through leadership in transportation."
