U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said America is now facing “an enemy within” and pointed toward what she called “America Last” policies by Democrats.
“Yes there is an enemy within,” Greene wrote, The Epoch Times reported. “And that enemy is a poisonous rot of socialist policies and America Last sellouts who are pompous hypocrites that believe they are untouchable elites.”
Greene was seemingly responding to Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Pelosi said the House needed more money to tighten security and later on explained that there were House members who wanted to bring firearms to the chamber.
“I have said this all along, that we will probably need a supplemental for more security for members when the enemy is within the House of Representatives, a threat that members are concerned about, in addition to what is happening outside,” Pelosi said during a press conference on Jan. 28, adding,"it means that we have members of Congress who want to bring guns on the floor and have threatened violence on other members of Congress."
Earlier in January, Rep. Andy Harris (R-Md.) was allegedly caught with a hidden firearm while trying to enter the chambers.
Security has since been upgraded at the Capitol following the Jan. 6 breach. The continued presence of the National Guard, metal detectors near the entrance to the House chamber and fences around the Capitol are some of the latest upgrades.
