Stacey Abrams announced she will make a second run for governor of Georgia in 2022, setting up a potential repeat matchup with current Gov. Brian Kemp.

Abrams made the announcement over social media, where she premiered a video on Twitter touting her accomplishments in service.

"I spoke up for families being left behind,” she said in the video, after citing examples of things she has promoted in recent years to help small business and to help feed the hungry.

Abrams tweeted she was running for governor “because opportunity in our state shouldn’t be determined by zip code, background or access to power. #gapol Be a founding donor to my campaign."

No other Democrat has stepped forward to say they will challenge Kemp, who still has must get through the Republican primary, where he faces a potential challenge from Vernon Jones and possibly U.S. Sen. David Perdue.

Abrams believes she’s the right person for the job.

“Leadership that knows how to do the job,” she said in her announcement. “Leadership that doesn’t take credit with taking responsibility. Leadership that understands the true pain folks are feeling and has real plans. That’s the job of governor, to fight for one Georgia, our Georgia and now it’s time to get the job done.”
