Sophie Fisher joined the Georgia Bulldogs volleyball team, transferring from Kentucky after much success both there and in high school, where she became a highly touted volleyball recruit.

Fischer was an Under Armour and PrepVolleyball All-American in high school prior to enrolling at Kentucky, according to georgiadogs.com.

"We are thrilled to add Sophie to our program" Georgia Bulldogs women's volleyball coach Tom Black said in a press release. "She's a versatile athlete who's clear and focused on what she wants to accomplish both on and off the court. We're beyond excited she can train with us this spring. It's a critical time to develop as a player and a team. Our program got better today. Sophie wants to make an impact and we know she will."

Fischer was a member of the 2020-21 Kentucky team that brought home the university's first national championship in women's volleyball. She will not be eligible at Tech until spring 2022, at which time she will begin practicing with the team. Fischer stands a tall and imposing 6-5 and plays middle blocker on the volleyball court, according to a report from georgiadogs.com.

Fischer is from Fort Mill, South Carolina, and her high school team won back-to-back state championships with her playing on the outside and winning consecutive Gatorade Player of the Year awards in South Carolina, according to georgiadogs.com. She also played for the Adam Speight and the Carolina Rouge volleyball clubs and was ranked as the number 15 volleyball recruit of 2020. During Kentucky's national championship season, she played in eight matches, 19 sets, had 28 kills and seven blocks while hitting .318.

In her sophomore year she played in 10 matches with nine kills, according to georgiadogs.com. In addition to the national championship, Kentucky won SEC championships in both of her seasons for the team.
