Georgia center Jenna Staiti has been named as one of 10 finalists for the 2022 Lisa Leslie Award, which is awarded every year to the best center in college basketball. She has reached several milestones in her Georgia basketball career. That is not the only honor that she has received in the middle of this season for her stellar play under the basket at the center position.
Staiti is Georgia's leader in points, rebounds and blocked shots.
"HooperGirl14 is at it again! Jenna Staiti has been named a finalist for the Lisa Leslie Award," school officials posted on Facebook.
Staiti has attained double figures in 16 out of her 21 games this season and also in 48 of her last 58 games played. Staiti was also placed on the Wooden Award Top-25 Midseason Watch List and the Naismith National Player of the Year Midseason Team. She is the sixth player in the history of Georgia Bulldogs Women's basketball to score 1,000 points, grab 500 rebounds or block 200 shots in her career.
In particular, she has performed well in big games against quality opponents. She scored 21 points, six blocks and 11 rebounds against the no. 2 NC State Wolfpack. She also had 22 points and 11 rebounds against a ranked Ole Miss team and held their top scorer Shakira Austin to nine points.
Being a finalist for the Lisa Leslie award is not the only honor she has received at midseason. Staiti is on the watch list for the Wooden Award and was placed on the Naismith National Player of the year midseason team as well.
Staiti was born in Cumming, Georgia. She stands at 6'4 and wears number 14 for Georgia's team.
