Dalton Public Schools recently issued the following announcement.
On Monday, April 25, the Dalton Board of Education met in a special called meeting to approve two new principals for the 2022-23 school year. Alison Finley will be the new principal of Blue Ridge School while Anne Fetzer was promoted to principal of Roan School.
Finley is currently the principal of Valley Point Elementary School where she has served since 2020. Prior to that, she served as assistant principal at Pleasant Grove Elementary School, and as an instructional coach and Title I contact at Cedar Ridge Elementary School. Before going to Whitfield County Schools, Finley worked at City Park School for 14 years.
She holds an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, TN; a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, TN; and a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, GA.
Fetzer currently serves as the assistant principal at Roan School, where she has worked for the last 12 years. She previously served as a teacher for 10 years and a paraprofessional for one year. Prior to coming to Roan, Fetzer served as a paraprofessional at Westwood for three years.
She will receive her master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction for Accomplished Teaching from Valdosta State University in Valdosta this summer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ.
Dr. Tim Scott, superintendent of Dalton Public Schools, said he believes both Finley and Fetzer will be excellent additions to the administrative team at Dalton. “Ali and Anne have proven leadership experience and are excited to move into these important principal positions in our district. I know their passion for student achievement and enthusiasm for serving families make them great choices to lead the staff at each of these schools.”
